Scratch's Monologue I

I really tried to behave, believe me

Been acused of miseducation a million times

At least that's how I recall it

My mother used to sell flowers in a Moscow square

And I know she only did that for fun

Given the fact that we were billionaires

Coke share holders and General Motors investors

(I confess: Microsoft was not out of our sphere

of interest)

We lived in a cottage by the sea and that's how I learned

to be free

My father died when I was five but I was told

he acted like an excentric

Although he was the son of an old-fashion'd English Duke

His best times were artificial and frantic

I've missed him so much since I was thirteen and met my natural dad

An ordinary clerk in a small provincial town

He said “Hi son” with a broad sunny smile and glittering eye

I just turned around and pretended I was never born

Surprisingly enough it worked: he continued his calculations

He lit a cigarette, drank a cup of coffe and ate pie

My mother and my father never met and there was never an
